FTII to Hold Convocation on 19 th March; Students of TV And Film Wings to Receive Certificates From B P Singh.

 

Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) will be holding a Convocation ceremony, the first in 22 years, in the campus on Tuesday 19th March 2019.

Brijendra Pal Singh,President of FTII Society and Chairperson of Academic & Governing Councils, and FTII alumnus (Cinematography,1973) will be the Chief Guest at the Convocation and will present Post Graduate Certificates to three batches of TV Wing (2014-15, 2016-17 &  2017-18) and two Film Wing batches of Feature Film Screenplay Writing (2016-17 & 2017-18).148 students are eligible to receive Certificates in the Convocation.

"A Convocation is an important event in the calendar of any academic institution. To FTII this one is special too as the last one was held on 14th December 1997. The Chief Guest Sh B P Singh is an FTII alumnus who passed out of the Institute in 1973 specialising in film cinematography. He earned his reputation as writer, Producer and Director of popular TV serial CID which ran for a record unbroken 21 years on SONY TV. It is his vision that launched FTII's countrywide film education outreach SKIFT (Skilling India in Film and Television) in May 2017 which saw 134 short courses conducted in 34 cities and towns across India touching nearly 5800 learners in 22 months." said Bhupendra Kainthola, Director, FTII Pune.

In 2004 Sh Singh made it to the Guiness Book of World Records for taking a single continuous shot of 111 minutes to mark the completion of six years of CID. His cult TV shows AAHAT and SHAPATH are still remembered for their thrilling experience. Sh Singh has recently entered the web series platform with his serial ABHAY.

The convocation ceremony will begin at 12 noon in FTII's iconic Main Theatre. Several alumni have been invited to the programme.
