AZADI KA AMRIT MAHOTSAV

Documentary Film Competition

 

Film & Television Institute of India, Pune had organized Documentary Film Competition as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of independence and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements.

Documentary Films produced in India (or abroad) between 1st August 2021 to 31st August 2022 on a subject/ theme related to the 75th years of Independence / 75 years of Independence / Spirit of Independence and Screen Duration up to 20 Minutes (Including Credits) were invited for participation in this competition. Entry for competition was open to all.

FTII received 28 entries from different parts of India. After, preliminary scrutiny by FRO section, 23 films were eligible for the competition and 5 films were found not eligible for the competition.

The Jury, duly constituted by FTII, Pune has selected Three Best Documentary Films for award on the basis of cinematic, thematic and aesthetic excellence.

 

Award winners are as follows,

1.

Film Name- THE BUOYANT

Producer- South Indian Film Academy, Kerala

Director- Arun AR, Akhilesh KA, Anandhu Krishna

 

Jury Citation

“The Buoyant is a refreshing take on the familiar problem of survival amidst displacement.  The family portrayed in the film is treated with grace, humanity and gentle humour in equal measure.”

Film- TURTUK- Land Ends Here

Producer- Nitin Joshi

Director- Sumit Kulkarni

 

Jury Citation

“Turtuk – Lands Ends Here takes us on a startling journey to a unique place ensconced in a faraway corner of the land. The film’s affectionate gaze gives us a glimpse into a charming community and its fascinating culture.”

Film- BIGARI KAAMGAR (Bonded Labour)

Producer- Sixteen By Nine Media Centre, Pune

Director- Aditya Patne

 

Jury Citation

“Bigari Kaamgar is a moving and clear-eyed portrayal of the life of a sanitation worker who goes house to house collecting garbage. We see her daily struggles as well as her social wisdom and the way she faces her life with calm courage.”

 

The winners of the competition is honored with a certificate of achievement and cash prize of INR One Lakh (Rs.100000/-) each, which will be equally distributed between producer & director of the film.
