Renowned portrait painter Pt. Sujan Rane donates portrait of Dadasaheb Phalke to FTII, Pune.

The US based classical singer and painter Pt Sujan Rane gifted a portrait of Dadasaheb Phalke to FTII. On his visit to India, Pt Sujan Rane, a US based retired banker visited FTII Pune yesterday. This was his first visit to the campus but a special one as he had planned to gift a portrait of the father of Indian cinema. A few of his paintings of classical music masters were gifted to Benaras Vishwa Vidyalaya, while this sole portrait of Phalke was to be given  to the premier film school of India.

In a small function held at the office of Director,  the painting was handed over to FTII in the presence of a few faculty members. Director Prof Sandeep Shahare felicitated the guests including Mrs. Rane  and Sh. Ashok Rane (senior critique). Pt Sujan Rane is a disciple of Pt Firoz Dasttoor.

While talking to the FTII Director and faculty members, Pt. Rane joyfully recalled his experience of making the portrait and shared trivia about the Father of Indian Cinema.
