Talking about what music lends to a film in an hour-long session with nearly 100 participants anchored by Shekhar Kapur, Chairman FTII, the Academy Award-winning music director said music embellishes what the story is.

The wide-ranging discussion touched areas like score, background music, Qawwali and its healing aspect, use of raags, the promise and talent of new age composers and more.

Rehman elaborated on the rich musical traditions of India and wished somebody made films drawing from Advaita philosophy and the Rig Veda.
